Kinitiras Studio is the first Residency Centre for performing arts in the city of Athens. Offering small scale residencies for artists and theorists from all over the world, we encourage research, development and presentation of works in progress.
We have created an inspiring environment to promote multicultural understanding that allows innovation and creativity to flourish. Kinitiras Studio also holds lectures and seminars given by an international team of artists and theorists aiming to bring the community closer to the performing arts.
Kinitiras is asking again this year the applicants for residencies to give emphasis on relations and cooperation between Greek and foreign artists and to focus on the subject "Urban Surprises".
The aim is to create short site-specific projects (soli-duets) outdoors that will act as little surprises in the everyday life of the urban landscape. The positive surprise caused by the art in the least expected places, gives cheerfulness and optimism to citizens and at the same time acts as an everyday balm. When art is outdoors it feeds the social development while addressing to all regardless of age, race or social background.
