Ana Mendiola was born in San Sebastian (Basque’s country ), in Spain. After she completed her classical dance training in the Municipal Conservatory of San Sebastian under the auspices of Peter Brown, she developed her technique in the school Karen Taff in Madrid in 1981, where she attended classes by Arnaldo Patterson (choreographer of the Contemporary Cuban Dance Company school ).
Later her studies in theatre together with her specialisation in modern, jazz and afro Cuban dance brought into life her personal technique “danza espiralidad” or differently “pirality dance”, aiming at the individual’s awareness development as well as his/her relationship with his/her body. The technique is based on the four elements of our senses’ world: earth, water, fire and air. Ana’s professional career covers a wide range: she has taught in different places of the world. She has also applied the therapeutic qualities “danza espiralidad” in psychologically and physically vulnerable communities. Finally, she has participated as a dancer and choreographer in TV shows. In 2008 she recorded her first cd, a collection of poems, while in 2009 she recorded her second one, titled "Siete Miradas".

Body and Mind, Smells and Tastes, Music from the five continents and Silences, in a very personal journey through movement and dance
In this workshop, through the relationship between our five basic senses and the four elements (earth, air, fire, water) a poetic, lyrical and alternative space will be created.
This space will be created through movement improvisation and through building an “open” movement quality. We will create an imaginative world of those elements that exist in our environment and in our being.
This work is for everyone who is open to explore, listen and develop personally, awakening their memory, their senses and the internal beauty of their consciousness.
