“Watching the end”, an interdisciplinary experiment by Rudi Skotheim at Kinitiras Studio

Rudi Skotheim Jensen returns to our country (3/12 – 17/12) as a resident artist of Kinitiras Studio, in order to explore together with Flora Kalomoiri, member of the Kinitiras Dance Spectacle company, how the world would be just before the end.

The average man lives a sustainable life. He goes to work, earns money, pays taxes, takes his children to school, cleans his house, he does the shopping and so on. In other words, he sustains the basic things for him in order for the society to function.

What exactly is going to happen if this way of living stops working? We know that something will go wrong, that we will be in trouble, but what EXACTLY is going to happen? “Something will go wrong” and “trouble” are just words, although scary enough to stop us from changing our lifestyle; but if we finally did change, what would the process be? What could be the cause to make us stop today?
Imagine a world without you. On a bigger scale, imagine a world without nations. What could be the impact? A “without” world. A world without money, without insects, without boundaries, a world without us and the process to reach at that point. Where and how we will start? If we stop sustaining our present and we just stop and watch how things are going to unfold? That is the starting point of Rudi Skotheim Jensen’s and Flora Kalomiri’s experiment. An interdisciplinary programme in the field of performance arts.

The two artists hope that that they will be able to continue their research after the end of the residency and there have already been some efforts to explore funding options, so that Kinitira’s performer, Flora Kalomoiri, will be able to visit Norway. After the end of the research process, the results will be presented in a performance in Greece and in Norway

Rudi Skotheim Jensen is a Norwegian artist who has studied Directing and Choreography at the ESAC (Superior school of circus arts) in Brussels, Dramaturgy at the O.C.U. (Oslo University College) and he has received a BA diploma from the Norwegian Theatre Academy Fredrikstad. In 2011 visited Kinitiras Studio for the first time, as a member of the «Rudi Skotheim Jensen Works» company and together with the «Human Works» company, they researched, created and performed the work «Be good to the always» with great success.
