There is a Japanese saying that says: when a tree falls in the forest, you can hear the cry of the tree …It is like the beginning of the world up until its end.
When a little leaf is falling you can also decode a statement of "awareness" about our lives in general and in particular during the stage of humanity’s falling.
Seeing the artist as a plant, or part of the nature you can realize that his "sensitivity" can be part of his creative process and outcome.
The lecture/ demonstration will be interactive so be ready to listen, play and discover during this sharing!
The Iranian performer based in Jerusalem is working and experimenting with the deconstruction, construction and re-evaluation of elements of nature and elements of the stage emphasizing in movement, sound and performance.
He is going outside and he learns the structure of specific plants. He examines the plant’s fundamental structure and he broadens our understanding of the species in a larger context; in the garden in relation to its place among other plants and its religious significance.
Following a systematic introduction, he is imitating the “tricks” of nature and sees how they contribute to the performing arts and vice versa. For example, certain sounds have been shown to be conducive to growth in certain plant species. He brings “nature” into the studio and will try via sculpture, sound, and performance to re-evaluate these arts.
He likes to apply game theory to analyze the interaction of symbols, stimuli and interpretation in the environment.
Environment is defined in nature as the relationship among plants and a single plant.
On the stage, the environment is referred to the relationship between an actor and the other; and a single actor’s conflict with desire.
The method in both analyses is identical but the language and interpretations differ and this is what creates the mysterious beauty to balance that is called “Yugen”.
Looking outward, we’ll see the harmony which comes from the correct balance in nature. This brings us to looking inward which influences every facet of performance.
