In this workshop we will approach the movement through the observation of the details and the isolation of body parts.

Any small movement of the body, or part of it, will gradually evolve to a kinetic combination that will be placed throughout the entire space. The small, the imperceptible, the minimum will be the core of the investigation, using the release technique, placing the body in every possible position and combining our expressive and physical abilities.

The workshop is aimed at professionals and amateur dancers, students preparing for the exams at Higher Professional dance schools (improvisation lesson), actors, dance therapists, and anyone involved in movement regardless of technical training.

Persa Stamatopoulou was born in Athens. She studied classical and modern dance in France, where also attended workshops of different techniques of contemporary dance with renowned dancers and choreographers, (Lario Eksson, Bruno de Dizian, Christine Bastin, Mark Tompkins, Dominique Duzinski etc.) and participated as a dancer in two groups of contemporary dance. Returning to Greece she teaches subsidized by the EU workshops of movement and improvisation to actors and dancers, as well as to Higher professional schools of theatre of G.Kimoulis and K.Ntalianis (Modern Times). From 1995 to 2014 she teaches contemporary dance technique (Limon – Release) and theory in the Higher professional dance school of D.Grigoriadou. As a choreographer she has worked with the directors G.Kaklea, A.Antypa, R.Pateraki, G.Kimouli, M.Papadimitriou, A.Kokkinou, P.Kokkinopoulo, the Municipal Theatre of Komotini and K.TH.V .E. In 1991 she founded the “Contemporary dance company Persa Stamatopoulou”, which has been subsidized by the Ministry of Culture. She is choreographing, dancing and giving performances in festivals in Greece and abroad (Holland, Germany, Sweden, Cyprus). She has been awarded twice in the New Choreographers Competition in the R.Manou memory and she has taken part in Kalamata International Dance Festival. She has also worked with the National Museum of Contemporary Art (in collaboration with the Academic G.Veltsos) and the Benaki Museum. In 2011 as a production of the Athens Festival, she presented the work “Look at me” and worked with Mania Papadimitriou in Epidaurus (Athens Festival production). In 2013 she presents the project «Fight or Flight» in collaboration with the choreographer Stavroula Siamou (production of the Athens Festival), while in January 2015 she presented at the Onassis Cultural Centre the “Silence” project (in production of the Onassis Cultural Centre). Shee continues to be active as a choreographer and organizes workshops for dancers and actors in various parts of Greece.
