“Art has this unique ability to unite people, to overcome class barriers, racial divisions, political conflicts, age differences. As I often like to say, art is a healing factor in daily life for all of us, professional artists and non-artists“.
Antigone Gyra
For the 2026-27 season, the Kinitiras Ω lifelong learning group begins in October and will meet every Tuesday from 18.00 to 20.00 at the Kinitiras Lab. We look forward to seeing you on the first Tuesday, October 6, for an introductory session! Reserve your spot by October 2 at info@kinitiras.com or by calling +30 69 40 576461 every Tuesday and Friday from 11.00 to 13.00 and Thursday from 18.00 to 20.00.
Cost of the first session: €20 (including 24% VAT). This amount will be deducted from the quarterly fee for anyone who decides to continue.
For the past 12 years, it has been a weekly gathering for older adults, focusing on the body, imagination, expression, and the joy of being together. This year, through a variety of techniques and approaches- from yoga and gentle exercise to Commedia dell’Arte and dancetheatre improvisation- the group is once again opening its doors to new members. Let’s explore new ways to be together, to experiment, to laugh, and to create. We don’t need to know how to dance, act, or exercise- all it takes is the willingness to try something new. Because the body never stops moving, the imagination never stops traveling, and play knows no age limits.
Through the weekly meetings, the participants:
- Approach human existence not only as substance but also as spirit, expanding their relationship with nature, themselves, their bodies and others.
- Come into contact with a gentle physical exercise inspired by modern dance, rhythmic, physical theatre as well as vocal, breathing exercises and singing.
- Learn to take care of their bodies, so that their daily lives will improve.
- Explore through the language of the body and the voice, stories of memory that give strength and courage for the present.

The history
Kinitiras Ω (Omega) started in 2014 with a vision for mature adults to access dance and theater through a creative community where they can activate their bodies as well as strengthen and cultivate their creative expression.
Working with professionals from Kinitiras company, the group gained experience in co-creation, rehearsal and production by participating in artistic events and performances. So, in addition to the performances at the end of the year, the Kinitiras Ω group inspired the documentary KIN.Ω (Chrysanthi Badeka), traveled to Esslingen, Germany, to attend the stAGE festival where they presented the work of Eros and Psychi directed by Antigone Gyra and participated in Ana Sánchez-Colberg’s Seven to Seventh Project at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s Summer Nostos Festival. From 2021 to 2023, Kinitiras Ω worked steadily with the Acropoditi DanceFest.
During the academic year 2020-21 (November-April) Antigone Gyra, artistic director of Kinitiras and one of the coordinators of Kinitiras Ω, prepared – in the midst of a pandemic – a study, with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture, on the subject of “Contemporary dance and dance theatre in the third age. A study on the work of the group KINITIRAS Ω”, which was presented in April 2022 at Flux Laboratory Athens, in June in the context of the first two-day workshop on dance held at ASKT and organized by SE.HO.HO. (Employees’ Union in the Dance Space) and in Syros at the 9th Akropoditi DanceFest.
In 2023-24, members of the group took part in the Erasmus+ adult education programme, Maturing Korai. Through the KA2 Erasmus+ programme Maturing Korai, women 50+ were introduced to new methods, trainers and women from other countries (Cyprus, Italy) and strengthened their potential and skills, as well as their dynamic presence in a society that sees ageing as a period of cessation.
In addition, the group travelled to Vamvakou for a movement and singing workshop, a partnership between Vamvakou Revival and the group Kinitiras Ω (Mature Age), coordinated by Antigone Gyra and Aliki Avdelopoulou while, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of its existence, all the lifelong learning groups of Kinitiras (Dance Theatre, Acting, Omega and Youth) came together on 26/6/24 in the courtyard of the Dance Study Center I. & R. Duncan in a Performance-Celebration.
During the 2025–26 season, they worked “behind closed doors.” As part of artistic research and “play,” and as a continuation of the work on dance in ancient tragedy and comedy- in the form of a theatrical analogy- which took place at the end of last season, the group explored Brecht’s political theater and “alienation” in acting. In collaboration with Alexis Vidalakis, Kinitiras’s two lifelong learning groups, Y and Ω, presented the play *The Good Man of Se Chuan* in a joint performance at the end of the season, dedicated to KINITIRAS’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY.
