a) Home
Almalibre.co
Home is inspired by Egon Schiele’s (1915-1917) The Embrace (The Loving) and Edward Hopper’s Coople Paintings (1939-1959) and Social Realism (1928-1947).Hopper’s realism and simplicity combined with his isolated figures, even when the faces he draws are in the same room, as opposed to the intense vitality of the two genders in the Schiele paintings, portray two completely opposite atmospheres, two different worlds of human coexistence and communication.Almalibre.co composes through movement, space and bodies a choreography that turns into a painting.

b) 2084
A (r) CT
2084 is a collaboration of performers Eleni Papaioannou and Alex Gotch with the musician Panos Houdoulidis. Drawing information from 1984 by George Orwell, 2084 relies on the idea that love can be revolutionary, resisting and often risky. Two people who, beyond the love they share, love freedom as well. And they resist vigorously in the constant effort of a “superior” power to abolish every trace of interpersonal relationships so as to ensure absolute dominance over them.2084 reflects the fear that someday we may lose the ability to feel, think, and fight for ourselves, our dignity, those around us.Perhaps we lose the world we once dreamed of and fell in love.

The masterclass of Almalibre.co and A(r)CT is a contemporary dance workshop that combines elements from the Release, Floorwork, Flying low and Passing Through techniques.
During the workshop we will share with you our own personal practices and you will have the opportunity to explore the way we work and develop our work.
In particular, we will focus on how, through specific improvisation exercises, body movement can become emotional and enrich our movement vocabulary.
So, through group games, improvisations and more choreographed exercises, we will meet, run, play, move and dance as if there is no tomorrow!
