Choreography workshop with Antigone Gyra
11-22/7/2016

A human study of the choreographic creation. How do I use the skills and weaknesses of the performers to get close to my personal vision.
The workshop is aimed at people who are interested in the choreographic composition.
Each participant will create with a group of choice a short choreography, by going through all stages of inspiration, casting, brainstorming, organization of the idea, improvisation and the final composition. In the end, we will simulate the “production” with costumes, objects and lighting.
The way in which potential choreographers will create is anthropocentric and focuses primarily on how people-performers affect the creative process and how the choreographer-coordinator gets inspired by them without losing his/her original idea.
Each participant-choreographer may invite one to four people-performers (the invited performers will contribute economically by donation).
Maximum number of choreographers: 12.
The workshop leads to a sharing in the end.
Antigone Gyra creates dance and theatre performances as well as video art. She is a mother of three children. She graduated from the London Laban Centre with distinction and she was awarded with the Graduates’ Choreography award in 1993. In 1996 she created the Kinitiras dance theatre company (kinitiras.com) with which she has until today choreographed many works and has organized workshops and lectures regarding dance and theatre. Since December 2008 she is a co director of the first residency centre for performing arts in Greece, Kinitiras Studio, together with Vicky Adamou and Flora Kalomoiri. She is a volunteer at the 2nd Secondary School of Voula. There she found the inspiration for the action EK PLIKSI (Sur Prise) that brings dance in schools (www.ekplixi.com).
