Morning Workshops
Lia Chamilothori – Acrobatic Meetings
In these two meetings we will make a first acquaintance with the acrobatic movement and its basic characteristics. After proper strengthening and stretching we will transfer weight to the hands and play with gravity and our centre by constantly changing its direction. What is the role of the body’s gravity centre in all aspects of acrobatics and how can we manipulate it in inverted and original positions? How can another body support and lead me into these positions and how easily can the legs dance when the arms take their place? Our main goal is to overcome the fear of upside down positions and then become familiar with them. The feet leave the floor and the hands take action!
Christos Polymenakos -body/word – Performance Writing: Multimodal CorpoRealities
Who are the bodies of the world? How do they express themselves? How do they enrich our writing processes and reading experiences? How do all these become part contemporary creative processes? Employing tools from Christos Polymenakos’, body/word – Performance Writing method, we shall explore collectively embodied and non-material identities and ways to creatively play with the world, locate and share knowledge.
Peter Hussey – T(HERE)
In this workshop we will explore ecology and climate action from the point of view of consumerism and ‘choice’. We will look at how much of our Western lifestyle (‘Here’) is supported by the experience of the global majority (‘There’). We will use theatre methods developed by Crooked House in Ireland. The methods are used for devising and creating documentary theatre. The workshop will involve movement, physical action, close interaction, and developing short scenes.
Georgina Kakoudaki – Ideal worlds/ A utopia for the future
In this workshop we will try to imagine a possible and feasible future of our world. Though a series of theatrical tecniques we will search for a vision of the future and stucture ideas for the stage that ipict our hopes for the utopian future, as we imagine it and as is expected.
Afternoon workshop
Aria Boumpaki – Your body is a field
In an urban landscape of speed and cement, in a world where surfaces are taken to be boundaries, nature is found in thoughts, feelings, movement, and contact. This course deals with intimacy, the experience of space and especially of surfaces. The most urgent surface is the surface of the skin, and thus of touching. How much of my private sphere comes in contact with that of another? We are and will be confronted with surface negotiations between human and non-human beings. The surface deepens and reveals itself — interiority. Bodies dare to touch and move and Internal “spaces” reveal themselves in the public space of Athens.
