Transition I Enter Communities of Body → Community Dance Residency
Transition I Enter Communities of Body → Community Dance Residency, 16/11-19/12/2020
The Community Dance Residency on Transition and the exchange between Africa and Europe, originally programmed for Spring 2020 in the frame of In Progress Feedback Festival, is back, updated with creative proposals responding to globally spread challenges.
Blaise Mangitukulu from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Emilie Vaudou from France, Patricia Woltmann from Germany and Marilena Sitaropoulou from Greece will collaborate from a distance, digitally and in the flesh. Athens, Berlin, London, Bukavu and Paris will reach out to local and post national communities, so they can speak about the body and the modes in which different communities experience and express the notion of transition by means of community dance works. The creations will initially be presented in November at the place of each artist’s residence and online, while the process, findings, questions, dead ends and new proposals will be presented in December in Athens and online.
Antigone Gyra, founder and Artistic Director of Kinitiras, hands over the Artistic Direction of the Residency to Christos Polymenakos (www.christospolymenakos.com) who has been working with the company since its very first years. Experts on digital media and dance, psychology, community dance, verbal communication of choreographic research and creation, legal rights and digital media, constructive feedback, offer reference points. Additionally, physical and digital communities linked by the Residency main topics are invited into the process.
Stay tuned and take part in an original process, or just “Dance! Dance, cause we are born again!”
