When I started the project, my goal was to present how the community will be playing a vital role on the research process and creation that will lead to the materialization and visualization of a short dance film. For the creation of this project/ residency I worked with all artists and performers virtually. During rehearsals I focused on the exploration of the community that both dancers are involved at and the cultural backgrounds they hold. I came to realize then that the more I was working with the dancers it was more obvious to me that the best way to tell their stories was to let them say it through their dance and the use of speech, two very strong and bold ways they are comfortable using to express themselves. My goal as a creator and director, choreographer was to make sure they had the environment around them and the safe space that is required to develop those.
