WHO ARE YOU? – Commmunity Dance Workshop with Blaise Mangitukulu

The workshop will bring together the dancers on the theme of expressing hope despite the difficulties encountered in life; despite the cruelties our mothers, our sisters and we ourselves face every day; it will be about making the dancers understand their place in this martyred society; what should be their reaction; what is their mission … what must be their coded language as an African artist dancer; it will be about making them understand what they are dancing and also the most effective way to get the message across to the community, body language.

Will you grant me this dance? – Community Dance Workshop with Emilie Vaudou

We are going to create a ball/a feast together from a distance. Each of us will be alone at home and should be well dressed as if going to a dance (festive, elegant, refined clothes, suitable for the occasion. The most important thing is to feel beautiful !!).

SANGO: the God of Thunder – Community Dance Workshop with Marilena Sitaropoulou

In this workshop we are going to explore the two different dance styles the dancers used as their tools for the improvisation we worked with. I will be leading a workshop based on my practice and how I approached the meaning behind the word transition -building bridges which was the theme and research question of this Residency.

Dislocated Angle – Community Dance Workshop with Patricia Woltmann

Together we will explore the space of transition between the not-knowing and the knowing though the immediate experience of the body. Which transitions are there into future? How do we navigate through transitions, how are there embodied? Together we investigate movement in the space between the present and the future, its resonance in our surroundings.

The Community Dance Residency on Transition and the exchange between Africa and Europe, originally programmed for Spring 2020 in the frame of In Progress Feedback Festival, is back, updated with creative proposals responding to globally spread challenges.

Transition ECB 28 – 30/11 → Community Dance Workshops

An unpredictable online feast where you are the guests, the body is a tool to explore the condition of transition, where we are dancing with one foot in Europe and the other in Africa and where hope is not lost, even in the most difficult conditions, that’s what awaits you. Blaise Mangitukulu from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Emilie Vaudou from France, Marilena Sitaropoulou from Greece and Patricia Woltmann from Germany will prepare the workshops during the Residency program.
