From 3 to 7 of May 2021, as part of the Femininity in Transition residency program, four female choreographers and dancers, Antigone Gyra, Artemis Lampiri, Anthi Theofilidi from Greece and Miriam Engel from Israel, explore the different forms of femininity, of motherhood, but also the defense mechanisms that femininities construct to survive.
In the framework of ERASMUS+ programme, Kinitiras Youth group in collaboration with Crooked House Theater (Ireland) brings together ten young people in order to create a performance that will take part in the Performing Arts Festival “Ragaire” *(Ireland) using their own tools and points of view.
An original idea of Kinitiras Artistic Network for Performing Arts and a collaboration with the Goethe-InstitutAthen,the French Institute of Greece, the Flux Laboratory Athens, realized with the support of the Franco-German Cultural Fund.

The workshop will bring together the dancers on the theme of expressing hope despite the difficulties encountered in life; despite the cruelties our mothers, our sisters and we ourselves face every day; it will be about making the dancers understand their place in this martyred society; what should be their reaction; what is their mission … what must be their coded language as an African artist dancer; it will be about making them understand what they are dancing and also the most effective way to get the message across to the community, body language.
We are going to create a ball/a feast together from a distance. Each of us will be alone at home and should be well dressed as if going to a dance (festive, elegant, refined clothes, suitable for the occasion. The most important thing is to feel beautiful !!).
In this workshop we are going to explore the two different dance styles the dancers used as their tools for the improvisation we worked with. I will be leading a workshop based on my practice and how I approached the meaning behind the word transition -building bridges which was the theme and research question of this Residency.
Together we will explore the space of transition between the not-knowing and the knowing though the immediate experience of the body. Which transitions are there into future? How do we navigate through transitions, how are there embodied? Together we investigate movement in the space between the present and the future, its resonance in our surroundings.
Kinitiras, from September 2020 to June 2021, taking into consideration the new social (and not only) circumstances, remains in a transitional mode and proceeds step by step.
